Learning ZBrush #003 - IMM Brush and ZModeler

I created a frame that could be possibly used in a Graphic Gaming Symbol, using an Insert Mesh Brush for the Starts and the ZModeler to extrude and bevel the border.

Learning ZBrush #002 - IMM Brush

I Panel Looped a filigree mask then turned it into an Insert Mesh Brush. Next I'd like to get this process to the point where I can created frame borders for symbols and bezels in my games.

NanoMesh test

Hehehe...  I can't believe this took me few hours, should've done it in 2 minutes.  offset in x in cylindrical form will stretch in x with offset, need to figure out why.

My 80's Homage To 8-Bit

Since this month's challenge was an 8-Bit "pixel art" theme, I only felt that it was appropriate to add another 80's Pop Culture reference to an already 80's pop culture reference. So I made my 8-bit art classic D&D monsters:
So, from the left to right, we have a Carrion Crawler, Beholder, Rust Monster, and Owl Bear. Also keep in mind that you can see much more REFINED "pixel art" of mine at my website, www.ConceptCreature.com. :)

Halloween Illustration

This idea has beenin my folder for "future art projects" for forever, so this seemed like a seasonally-appropriate time to actually draw it up.
Also feel free to see other illustrations of mine HERE, on my website.

Ash from Evil Dead and some horrible monsters, also Youtube show!

Ash Williams from Evil Dead by Dave Bruno
I painted this a while ago, right after the Evil Dead remake came out back in... May? But I figured its Halloween related so why not post it anyway. I painted this in Photoshop CS6.

The Dripping Monster

The Skin Walker

And here are some horrible monsters. The Dripping Monster I actually doodled in College during my Poetry and Jazz class. It was a pretty funny situation, my teacher was walking around the room giving his lecture, and he peeked over my shoulder and saw that thing, stopped what he was saying and just said "Oh wow that's terrifying", soaked it in for a minute and then continued his lecture.

The Skin Walker I drew two days ago, so that ones new. I had this idea on the bus ride home from work and felt the urge to doodle it out when I got home. Its a little like The Thing, the rib cage separated become teeth for its maw and the intestine (gross) become like a giant tongue.

ALSO! I'm making a Youtube show called Scaredy Dave just for the fun of it in my spare time. Its an interesting little show, it plays out like a Lets Play ("Lets Play" shows are Youtube shows where you watch someone play through a video game as they make commentary, so you get to enjoy the fun of seeing a game as well as the fun of a humorous person talking about it.) but it has an animated show surrounding it.

Essentially the plot of the show is that Dave just moved in to a new apartment and it turns out its haunted by a Ghost. The Ghost initially wants Dave to leave, but Dave thinks that the rent is a steal there (its a comedy) so Dave decides to brave it and stay, the Ghost decides to take on this challenge by throwing scary things at him every night, all of which are cameos from horror themed video games. Each "Episode" has an animated prologue and epilogue, with the Lets Play portion in between. You can watch only the animated portions and still get the full enjoyment out of the show, the Lets Play portion is mainly for those who are into that sort of thing and they also give context to the animation (some jokes are made funnier when you see how they relate to the game)

Right now the only things that are posted on the Youtube page are the Prologue and the first 10 episodes of the Lets Play, I am hard at work on the Epilogue currently, and hope to have at least half of it done by Halloween. Here's a sneak peek at some of the backgrounds from the first half of the Epilogue.

"Hey! Keep it down in there!"

As you can probably tell, I LOVE HALLOWEEN! I also love horror! If youre interested in seeing Scaredy Dave, follow this link:

And have a happy Halloween! I still have my $200 Elvis costume from last year, made even more appropriate now that I work at IGT. Happy Haunting everyone!

Exploding Tardis

Supposedly painted by Van Gogh, according to Dr. Who ("The Pandorica Opens" season 5 episode 12).  We decided we needed our own version, so here it is!

Jason Martin, Art Challenge Entry: Yellow Ranger

So, I decided to take the conventional Power Ranger, and completely revamp the concept. I've been obsessed lately with headdresses, and the like, so I figured what if the Power Ranger took the Asian design concept of the Geisha, and turned it into badass armor? This is what I came up with:
I've got a Pink Ranger design I'm working on, as well, but I'm uncertain if I'll have time to finish it, since I'm in the middle of moving to a new house and have a sick wife to tend to, as well. Also feel free to look at my other work at www.ConceptCreature.com

Mat Planet - Power Rangers FAAC Entry

Rangers Imperium

There are a lot of cool Gokaiger aka Power Ranger designs out there, and I thought I could make a type based one that had huge numbers on the front of the suits, but alas, they beat me to it. The Tokusou Sentai Dekarangers aka Power Rangers S.P.D. already did that. So I did something else - I used Roman numerals, and gave them a Roman-themed name.
I stayed pretty classic with the suits being mostly simple jumpsuits plus some neat helmets and light armor on the shoulders, but had some fun with the ladies. Can they fight in those boots and heels? Who cares, they look cool. But I would like to return to this someday when I get more time to really push the style a bit further.
And the type means "Akiba-chan" which is a Japanese slang term for "Akihabara style." Akihabara is a district in Tokyo where many otaku, or obsessive anime, manga, and video game fans are known to gather for geek stuff.

Dave Bruno - Power Rangers FAAC Entry

Go Go President Rangers!

So I figured that, at least when I was a kid, the Power Rangers were always themed off something. Whether it be Dinosaurs like the first generation to I guess Samurai's and Time Force now a days, they've always had a theme. I figured, which one haven't they done yet.... So I made them the Presidents of the United States... because... they haven't done that yet?

The Megazord is made out of Mount Rushmore, the Statue of Liberty and a Bald Eagle, and the Rangers in front (from left to right) are Barack Obama, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln. I drew this in like... 5 minutes and I don't have a tablet for my PC at work right now so please forgive the scratchiness haha.

A Turtle Doodle

Ever have those wild, cool visual art images in your head, mid-consciousness, right before you pass out, and you think, "Oh man, I'll have to remember that for tomorrow, so I can draw it!" only to wake up and not remember what on earth it was that you saw flash through your head that prior night? Well, my images recently have become quite persistent, and this turtle is one of those that I imagined when I fell asleep, and then remember a ltitle less than 24 hours later:

Mad Scientists Adore Giant Gorillas

I don't get a chance to do finished art as much as I anticipated at the job, so here's some I did in my spare time:
